FIVE LAYER SALAD

 

 

1 head of lettuce, shredded

½ sliced Spanish onion, separated in rings

½ cup celery

1 can Water Chestnuts, sliced thin

1 pkg. Frozen peas, boiled minimum length and cooled

1 pt. Mayonnaise

1-tablespoon sugar

1-teaspoon milk

Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Fried, drained, crumbled bacon bits

2 boiled eggs chopped

1 tomato chopped

 

          Layer first 5 ingredients in a 9 x 13 pan, or in pretty glass bowl.  In a small bowl beat 1 pint mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1-teaspoon milk. Spread this salad dressing over the top of salad. Refrigerate overnight or 24 hours. Just before serving garnish with sliced boiled egg, shredded cheese and bacon bits.

BE SURE to cover the salad with wrap or foil when refrigerating.
